Professional Schools Coaching with Neon Judokwai

Summit Judo Club has over 50 years of history, originally operating from John Hunt of Everest School they have since relocated to Sherborne-St-John and become the largest judo club in the Basingstoke area. This was achieved by offering a great balance of fun and serious learning of judo.

Long serving student and Coach Paul Hamilton decided in 2010 to take the clubs ethos in fun learning  to schools in the surrounding area and further afield by starting Summit School of Judo. (Now Neon Judokwai)

Being a martial art and Olympic sport, judo is both a great form of physical and mental education. In addition to the obvious benefits of flexibility, balance, and co-ordination, the core principles of judo build life skills through self-discipline and teamwork giving a sense of achievement and most importantly building confidence.

Progression is monitored through a structured grading system provided by the British Judo Association. Individuals focus on developing their technique as they aim to reach the next benchmark: their sense of achievement is acknowledged by a recognisable series of coloured belts and stripes known as Shos for the under 8’s, Mons for juniors 5-15yr olds and Kyus for Seniors 16yrs+.

With fun lessons following the BJA Syllabus, there is a recognised progression path that can be continued when the students leave the schools and go to Summit or AWE Judo Clubs or other BJA affiliated clubs.

We  provide breakfast and after school clubs during school term-time, although they do not run on during school holidays, bank holidays or during school inset days.

Note: Sessions do not run if there is a School Inset Day.
